Half Way
February 24, 2010 | Leave a Comment

Half way point, 126th post, promised myself I would do it for a year, five days a week or thereabouts so have done it for six months now approx. Six months of Irish politics and it feels like two years. Time for change now earlier than i thought, time to start doing more constructive things with the time I spend on the web.
I will keep this going for another six months but when one looks into the fire one has to take what one discovers and use it otherwise the fire will consume the viewer. hence the image of the moon, in half light ecplise, the shadow cast by the earth blocking the light somehow making sense of what i am saying.
There will be no revolution in Ireland, Fianna Fail will cling onto power as long as they can and may well succeed. There is very little difference in the other parties who would step up to the plate. The government reflects the people of Ireland and I do not see myself represented there nor much chance of being so. This could be seen as a damm good thing looking at the moral and ethical standards that are the norm of government.
I will write on this again…..

HTML 5
February 22, 2010 | Leave a Comment

This is done in Sketchpad, a HTML 5 app from Mugtug.com
This has been 6 years in development and is expected to be an ongoing work for some time. The Public Working Draft is what is available above and well wort a peep. The specification is expected to reach the W3C Candidate Recommendation stage during 2012, and W3C Recommendation in the year 2022 or later.
It is certainly slick and easy to use with a tiny memory footprint that makes it feel totally integrated within the Browser and it will not be as fussy about which browser it uses even at this early stage. So far Safari on Mac and Chrome on Linux are fine to use. This will have the skids under Photoshop and to an extent Corel, and the people who gain, is us the users.
It is intriguing to see how the different companies build onto their original app’s, increasing the integration between them and the web and having such a powerful influence on the browser of the future. A complete integrated experience that will make you coffee (Note to self: time to computerise the coffee machine methinks) design your product and entertain you as well.
The time spent on the internet is like no other time spent, It must be the most natural extension of a mind there is. This is culture changing, wonder will it be as much fun as the 70’s? Time to find out……
The HTML5 editors are Ian Hickson of Google, Inc. and David Hyatt of Apple, Inc.
This last week saw the resignation of Willie O’Dea, helped in no small way by the contributors on P.ie who kept it in the public eye for the last few months. In a lot of ways the landmark meeting of smart media and a government that are wrong-footed when it comes to handling themselves on the internet. Is it possible that a group of people mostly strangers to one another can come together and provide better informed and more intelligent decisions than our government?
You can bet that the computer you are reading this on would not exist right now, with you reading this, if it had not been for a whole lot of strangers coming together and putting lines and lines of logical code together to make this possible. This is change, a change in information processing by a country, and a change that is going to increase at an exponential growth for a long time….

Silence is Golden, so no blog this week, it was exactly half ways on the length of time I had decided to blog for and I took a week off, just to reflect and see were it is bringing me.
I could write a thousand refelections on what I have learned from it but will find yet another way to bore the arse offa ya!
Normal services resume on Tuesday.

North Pole Moon
December 17, 2009 | Leave a Comment

Best reason I have ever seen for going to the North Pole instead of Santa coming here. The first big lie, oh yeah, and the tooth-fairy of course, double whammy, both dissolve at the same time. same day, same micro-second, and so does a whole lot of credibility for the people nearest and dearest to you until that fatal moment.
BASTARDS! I mean, seeing as I had already copped that they were lying, and seeing as I did not know what a lie was before this earth-shattering moment, I decided to be the innocent and play along for a while, there was another Christmas and still a good few teeth to be lost, worse still, I’ve got serious doubts about birthdays now as well, way too good to be true, all this counting bullshit was a ruse to send me off to be an accountant, ya know, someone who could give some decent advice and look respectful. As for that God fella, did they seriously ever expect me to believe a story that convoluted and dodgy!
The stand-off, “You know Santa’s not real”, “You know it was us all along”, so not only lies and manipulation have I learned during this tragic day but conspiracy now as well, they are out to get me! I tried to explain that as I was the middle one, I might let it slip to the others unless I was “looked after”, ya see, I was already so well versed in politics that they, being the liars, co-conspirators. manipulative and corrupt peers that I have had the misfortune to be born into, but now I was one of “them” Only grown-up’s get to talk about things like morals and ethics, a mere child has no need for things that adults invent and wish for their children to believe.
So I grew up, not that it was that big a deal, apart from lying to other kids about the imaginary fairies and Santa’s, I was still a present down at Christmas, something that a child takes very seriously as a year is an awful long time at that age. Each tooth was still worth half a Crown albeit forked out directly instead of divine intervention. I missed the tooth fairy, I really had a thing about her, I had seen an illustration in one of my books of a fairy and she was wearing a gossamer see-through dress and something about it had me hypnotised. Looks like the hormones are going to kick in soon.

Time
December 16, 2009 | Leave a Comment
I have been losing track of days recently, not so much losing track but losing them completely, now where did tuesday go? I have looked everywhere, blog, diary, kitchen, under the bed but no sign of it. I wonder should I report it to local Garda.
…
..
.
Garda: “What is the description of missing item?”
me: ” Well, it was tusday, between monday and wednsday”
Garda: “But what did it look like?”
me: “Ahmm….Ahhh….eemmm, I really don’t know as I can’t find it”
Garda: “Then how do you expect us to find it?”
me: “Well, maybe you could put up a missing poster”
Garda: “A missing poster, and how is anyone going to tell your Tuesday, from the thousands of other Tuesday’s out there?”
me: “Oh well, I guess it is gone forever then.”
That’s that Tuesday fucked without a doubt, gone forever, not a trace, nothing, not even a single word scribbled on a jacks roll, not even a ghost of it left. I am really worried about the future, what if this becomes more frequent, losing entire weeks, even months, un-accounted for, what if a whole year went missing. Even worse, a whole life, missing! just like that a whole life from womb to grave gone, nothing but a slap on the arse after being un-ceremoniously yanked from your Mothers arse and then cotton wool stuffed in your orifices and into the soil. nothing in between, zero! zilch, a whole life wasted, not even remembered. A hole in your consciousness although your consciousness no longer exists. How can something that does not exist have a hole, a vacancy. AHA! The final proof (as if it was needed) that God does not exist, he has a hole, a vacancy, way too many unanswered questions. Worse still what if a God did exist and just forgot, like created this place and just like Tuesday lost it somewhere. The forgotten Planet, wandering around (in a circle, I might add) telling itself “Ah we are not forgotten, maybe misplaced but not forgotten” Could this be how we ended up on the wrong side of the universe along with those discarded socks and the iPod cover?
